Relationships are difficult. Throw in a career, a few kids, in-laws, and life…phew…it can be overwhelming. With so many things to juggle, it can be hard to find time to maintain your marriage while trying to do a halfway decent job at everything else on your plate.
One simple way that I’ve found/made the time to focus on my relationship has been to subscribe to “The Marriage Minute” by John and Julie Gottman. The Gottman’s are pioneers in the area of marriage and have been studying married couples for the last 40 years! Through their ground-breaking research at their “Love Lab” in Seattle, they have been able to predict divorce at a 95% accuracy rate, yeesh!
In my inbox every day is a quick 60-second read on how to tune into my relationship, even if its just for that minute. I get to visualize how I will apply this concept to my relationship and will often send a quick text to my honey showing my appreciation and love for him. It brightens his day and lets him know that he’s on my radar.
